Benjamin Merkler, geboren 1982, lebte 2002 bis 2007 in Köln, wo er Germanistik, Anglistik und Philosophie auf Magister studierte. Von 2007 bis 2009 studierte er an der Universität Heidelberg Anglistik, Philosophie und öffentliches Recht. Seit 2010 lebt er in Berlin und hat seine Promotion an der Technischen Universität Tallinn begonnen. Neben seinem Studium war er als Forschungsassistent sowie in einer PR/Marketing-Agentur tätig, schrieb gelegentlich Artikel und übersetzte. Zuvor war er schon in der Softwareentwicklung, in Marketing, Vertrieb und in der Gastronomie tätig. Privat trat er in seiner kölner Zeit ab und zu als Cressida Treulos (Travestie mit Livegesang) auf und stand im Bereich Kleinkunst und Comedy auf der Bühne. Überdies war er Protagonist in einem Dokumentarfilm.
